My Fairphone is charging slowly

  • Region:United States
  • Updated

If your Fairphone is charging slower than expected, adjusting your settings or switching to a compatible charger can quickly restore normal charging speeds. Here is how to troubleshoot slow charging and maintain your battery health.

How to restore fast charging

  1. Plug directly into a wall outlet
Connect your power adapter directly to a wall outlet instead of a laptop or computer USB port.
  2. Verify cable and charger compatibility
Make sure your charger and cable meet the required power standards for your model. For the Fairphone (Gen. 6/Gen. 6+), Fairphone 5, and Fairphone 4, use a USB Power Delivery (USB PD) charger supporting PPS at a minimum of 30W (9V, 3A) or Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0+.
  3. Clean the charging port
Clear dust or lint out of your phone's USB port using a can of compressed air.
  4. Enable Fast Charge (for Fairphone 5)
On your phone, go to Settings > Battery & Charging > Charging mode and select Fast Charge.

Charging speeds naturally reduce once your battery reaches 80% capacity to protect long-term battery lifespan.
