To actively reduce e-waste, Fairphone smartphones do not include a charger or cable in the box. Check these requirements to make sure your existing accessories safely and efficiently charge your phone.


How to charge your Fairphone battery

Your Fairphone comes with a removable, lithium-ion battery. To charge your phone safely:

  1. Connect one end of your charging cable to a compatible power adapter.
  2. Connect the USB-C end of the cable (or Micro-USB cable for the Fairphone 2) to the charging port at the bottom of the Fairphone.
  3. Connect your power adapter directly to a working wall outlet.

Can I charge my Fairphone wirelessly?

No, Fairphone smartphones do not support wireless charging because wired charging is significantly more efficient. We may consider wireless charging in the future as technology improves.

How can I tell if my Fairphone is charging?

When you plug in your phone, the display lights up and shows the current battery percentage. You can also turn on charging feedback by going to Settings > Sound & vibration and toggling Charging sounds and vibration.

Where can I buy compatible charging accessories?

If your existing accessories are incompatible, you can buy official cables and power adapters designed for your phone in the Fairphone online shop.

How long will it take to charge the battery of The Fairphone (Gen. 6/Gen. 6+)?

When using a Fairphone cable and charger, or compatible third-party alternatives, you can expect to reach:

  • 50% in about 22 minutes
  • 80% in around 37 minutes
  • 100% in about 85 minutes

Can I use a wireless charger on The Fairphone (Gen. 6/Gen. 6+)?

No, The Fairphone (Gen. 6/Gen. 6+) does not support wireless charging, similar to the Fairphone 5 and Fairphone 4.

Can I purchase a Fairphone wall charger?

Yes, EU wall chargers are available for purchase directly from the Fairphone online shop.

Please note that UK wall chargers have been discontinued. If you are in the UK, you can safely use any high-quality, third-party USB Power Delivery charger that supports a minimum of 30W.
