How to cast your Fairphone screen to another device

Google Cast is built into your phone's Android operating system, allowing you to stream videos, music, or your entire screen directly from your Fairphone to a TV or external display. You can cast media directly from supported apps or share your entire display in just a few quick steps.

What you need before you begin

  • A TV, smart display, or streaming player with Google Cast built-in (or a connected Chromecast device).
  • Both your phone and your target display device connected to the exact same WiFi network.

How to cast media from an app

  1. Open any app that supports Google Cast (such as YouTube or Spotify) on your phone.
  2. Start playing the video or audio content you want to stream.
  3. Tap the Cast icon in the app layout.
  4. Tap the name of your TV or display device from the list of available connections.
  5. To stop streaming, tap the Cast icon again and tap Disconnect.

How to mirror your entire screen

  1. Swipe down twice from the top of your screen to open the Quick Settings menu.
  2. Tap Cast. If you do not see the tile, swipe left across the panel or tap the pencil icon to add it.
  3. Tap the name of your receiving TV or display device.
  4. Select Cast entire screen from the dropdown menu
  5. Tap Cast screen to confirm
  6. To stop mirroring, open the Quick Settings panel and tap Disconnect.

If your receiving device does not appear in the connection list, ensure that both your TV and phone are connected to the exact same WiFi network frequency band (such as 2.4GHz or 5GHz).

Does Fairphone support Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL)?

Fairphone does not currently support Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL). 

Can I connect my Fairphone to an external screen?
